An Inspirational Story

When I was around eight years old I took ballet at the local ballet studio. For three years straight I got to dance in their production of the Nutcracker. That is why I find this story particularly thrilling! Enjoy!  I would love to hear what you think about this video! Go ahead and comment below.

A Good Cause

Recently, I came across a website called Good Search in an issue of Real Simple Magazine. What thrills me about it is, that it is just like a standard search engine, but here's the thing, each time you use it to search for something it gives a penny to your favorite charity! If you're like me, that could add up to a lot in a little bit of time! Ok, so what exactly does this have to do with Cerebral Palsy? Well, charities of course! Think United Cerebral Palsy or March of Dimes and try it for yourself. Oh, and you may even consider setting it as your homepage for maximum giving!

Thanks, Ann!

I took Ann up on her offer to contribute to her blog. I'm Sandy Morgan, from MN and do have CP. I'm catorgorized as severely disabled, as I need assistance with pretty much everything! Computers have given me much independence. My husband complains that I'm on it 14 hours a day! Pretty accurate, he is, but my typing speed is about 8 words per minute.

Looking forward to see how this blog evolves! With others contributing and giving feedback. through your comments, I expect many interesting discussions coming into play! here's to a lively place to share and learn with one another!

Q and A: Questions Answered

What is an IB Personal Project?
An IB personal project is a project that is completed by an IB (International Baccalaureate) student throughout their Sophomore year. This project is completely voluntary, but is quite a commitment, and as a result should be very personal. The student chooses a sponsor for encouragement and guidance and the finished project results in a final product and a 1000+ word essay.
What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy is a condition that includes various degrees of physically "differently abled" persons. Some people with Cerebral Palsy may use a wheelchair, while others may have what is known as a "scissor like" gait (walk). Contrary to popular belief, Cerebral Palsy is not a degenerative disease, so the majority of people living with Cerebral Palsy lead normal healthy lives.
If  I want to contribute to this blog, will I have to contribute regularly?
You may contribute as little, or as much as you would like! If you don't feel comfortable contributing you may just choose to read a post every so often, or every day!
Can a contribute to this blog even if I do not have Cerebral Palsy, or don't know anyone with Cerebral Palsy?
Of Course! Opinions from those who do not have Cerebral Palsy are equally as important as opinions from those who do, in order, for this blog to become well-rounded!
What kind of topics are going to be covered in this blog, or in other words, what should I write about what submitting a post?
Absolutely anything (as long as it is obviously related to some aspect of Cerebral palsy, of course!).
How old to I have to be to write a post?
Any age!
What kind of font should I use?
Times, would be best!

The Beginning

My goal for this blog is to have it be a resource for all kinds of people affected by, involved with, or interested in all things having to do with Cerebral Palsy. I have always wanted to create something like this, but have never had quite the perfect opportunity to do so. After deciding to do an "IB Personal Project" (more to come on that later), I realized that nothing I could ever do for a project would be as personal to me, as my own experiences with Cerebral Palsy. I would love for this blog to have multiple contributers, donation buttons for UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) and March of Dimes, information about Cerebral Palsy, a whole bunch of people's personal stories, and a more interesting title and message than the current title of "Undecided=)." I would like anyone, who wants to, to contribute, no matter their writing ability, degree of Cerebral Palsy, knowledge of Cerebral Palsy, or whether or not it is them or a loved one who has Cerebral Palsy.  If you are interested in writing or participating in this blog, please feel free to email me at comptonann@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you!
